Kyle Larson, Jamie McMurray to lead pack at Sonoma

After racing at Le Mans last weekend, long-time Ford driver Johnson returns to the states to enter his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race driving the iconic #43.

When Kasey Kahne went into the fence with just over two laps to go, it looked like that late caution might happen. Harvick had a nine-second lead over Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Clint Bowyer before the caution. "I just didn't get it all the first time out - tried to save a little bit of tire for the final round. I felt like the 78 was the auto we had to race and then he had problems and from there we were in control".

Christopher Bell led 152 laps in just his second career start in the series before a late wreck cost relegated him to 16th. "It's paying off. I feel like we've got a lot of room to grow".

Kyle Larson began the race in the lead after winning yet another pole, but the first stage went just as so many others have this season. Some of it was self-inflicted, some of it wasn't.

What really got Harvick thinking about his performance on a road course came a few months ago when NASCAR seriously started to consider putting the new Charlotte road course as part of the playoffs. By that time, Denny Hamlin was a distant second to Harvick and Clint Bowyer third. There's always a first time: So far this season, we've seen 10 different race winners in the Cup series, including three first-time winners: Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Ryan Blaney.

"This is worth the wait", he said. Busch has led laps in the last two Sonoma races and finished seventh in this event past year.

Over the final 26 laps, Keselowski, now with a tire advantage, charged through the field. Everybody back in Denver, thank you for guys for just insane fast cars.

"To finally check this one off the list. being so close to home and having raced here so much, this was one that was on the top of the list". They've done a great job, and I'm appreciative. but I want to get back in the race vehicle. "If we got that caution, staying out on the track would have been a race-winning move but it didn't work out".

Harvick is another former Cup champion who needs a win to secure his place in the Chase, and he has a finishing average of 14.6 in 16 starts at Sonoma, coming in sixth previous year. It will be best to balance our lineups this week with a mix of guys starting up with a chance to lead some laps and pick up some bonus points with some guys who qualified poorly and showed some speed in practice. "We can win from the third qualifying spot". Kyle Busch is the only Sonoma multi-race victor among active drivers with two wins at the track, most recently in 2015. There's also about a dozen right-handed turns you'll have to successfully navigate about 110 times in this 110-lap race around the twisting, turning 1.99-mile road course in Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350k in Sonoma, CA. "My vehicle got hit on the sides a couple of time, the nose is broken off - it looked like it should at the end of the race".

Day also this year is running for the Euro Series Championship with plans to race again in the Monster Energy Cup Series NASCAR race at Watkins Glen in NY. Boris Said, Alon Day and Billy Johnson are among those in Sunday's race.
