Max Verstappen remains the youngest podium finisher at 18 years, 228 days old, but nothing could dampen Stroll's spirits at his achievement.
On Sunday, the Williams driver showed his genuine ability in finishing third at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
"I can improve a lot, it just takes a bit of time".
"I'm just lost for words right now", Stroll said after the race. "The last few races have been tricky, but it has all been worth it".
As for his shoey courtesy of race victor Daniel Ricciardo, Stroll said: "This is going to scar me for life..." "I'm just happy for myself, happy for my team, my friends, family. It is all just noise in the background, I don't care".
Stroll conducted a testing programme in a 2014-vintage Williams to prepare himself for F1 last season, and is continuing that into the first part of this year.
Stroll felt it was important to have a clear run to get used to the track and gain confidence, and he said that it was an all-round positive day on track that he hopes translates into a strong weekend.
Quite some statement, perceived as misplaced confidence by some.
The 8th round of the 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship - the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix started June 23 in Baku.
Stroll's father has been financially backed by his father since he was eight.
"That was good fun, as I am enjoying the track", said Stroll.
"Jumping into the auto in FP1 I felt really confident immediately with the track, the balance, everything, it all came together". It's a dream come true, you dream of being on an F1 podium as a kid, you work towards it your whole life and you finally feel the moment.
After scoring points in two consecutive races, including a commendable ninth place at the Canadian GP two weeks ago, the criticism will probably stop.
