Who's No. 3? National Basketball Association draft intrigue begins after Fultz, Ball

Let's see if the Celtics can acquire this draft pick.

The 6-foot-8 Tatum worked out for Boston on Monday after news broke that the Celtics had dealt the No. 1 pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the No. 3 pick and a future first-round pick.

With Danny Ainge leading the way you never know what the Boston Celtics will do on the day of the NBA Draft. Eastern Time on ESPN. They could trade the pick for another pick and move out of the 3 spot, but they could do another thing and that is use the pick.

The Sixers are expected to draft Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 pick. The choice would likely be between Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum.

In addition, major trades within the National Basketball Association are apparently underway, with big names like D'Angelo Russell, Brook Lopez, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler being tossed around.

Personally, the NBA Draft is one of my favorite days of the sports year.

"OK, so the Celtics originally had the No. 1 pick, and me and my agent, we talked and we just didn't feel like they had much interest in drafting me at No. 1", Jackson said.

I think that Boston is the best situation for that, because he will have to earn playing time by defending.

"Well there were thoughts", Ainge said of whether Jackson's repeated snubs, including an inability to get together with the Celtics despite his presence in NY this week, influenced the team's decision to pick Tatum.

One NBA exec told the Herald that Ainge would love to find a way to get North Carolina State point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who isn't rated as high as the third overall pick.

With that in mind, here are a few things I'm expecting to see and/or hear tonight and a quick prediction for where Jackson and Frank Mason III will wind up.

Ainge was hopeful Jackson would be able to work out for the Celtics on Tuesday, but it didn't happen. He recently included Boston on a list of teams he'd like to play for.

Projected at No. 4 overall to the Phoenix Suns, Jackson said that much of his misconduct allegations have "been blown out of proportion", insisting teams know who he is. If they aren't confident in either, and they want a potentially ideal fit at power forward, they'll go with Isaac. With the NBA Draft, or really any draft for that manner, it's often all about minimizing risk.
