Top pick Fultz introduced as Sixers plan out extensive turnaround

Fultz and Ball led a record-setting run of one-and-dones in the National Basketball Association draft, which received a jolt early in the first round when the Chicago Bulls traded Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

So ignoring the obvious ones like that, here are some winners and losers from Thursday's proceedings, as much as these people making millions of dollars can really "lose" at anything. It's going to be a group of players that are interchangeable and versatile. No other school has done that as many times. He was selected third-team All-American by The Associated Press.

The Kings have been poorly run for a long time, but they actually had a really nice draft. When you study what Markelle did in college, you recognize very quickly that he has the ability to play that position if he wanted to be a ball distributor as well.

Sacramento then moved down from the No. 10 spot in a deal with Portland for the 15th and 20th selections. Vice president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo and the rest of the brass felt that Fultz was the flawless fit and made the move to get him. His upside is as high as anyone in this class.

Fultz fills both of those needs, but he does need to improve in several areas.

Jimmy Butler wasn't a draft pick, but Minnesota's draft night trade for him (for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and swapped first round picks) gave them the best player acquired on Thursday.

"And", Fultz said, "I've been texting him through the college process, and just getting advice through college and just wishing him good luck". Oh, and they could have had Justin Patton at No. 16 as well. He's not as NBA-ready as some other first rounders, but he has tremendous upside. Many believe Markelle will be a ideal fit as the team develops its core. It was said that the young worldwide phenom has an early confidence along with ball-handling skills and creativity, plus he can play all three positions in the backcourt. LaVar Ball had said his son would only play for the Lakers, and it was clear that would happen when Lonzo got a phone call with the Lakers on the clock. That's a pretty bold prediction, even for LaVar's standards. Utah forward Kyle Kuzma went to Brooklyn at No. 27, and he was included in the D'Angelo Russell-Brook Lopez deal with the Lakers.

That's why Fultz's teammate Joel Embiid is fully on board with Fultz's opinion, as outlandish as it may be for a team that has won 75 games in its last four full seasons combined.

After the Knicks selected promising French guard Ntilikina, who is flying right back to Strausbourg to help his club try to win their league championship, two other worldwide players were taken in the first round.

Butler, 27, averaged career highs in points (23.9), rebounds (6.2) and assists (5.5) and as a top defender brings a key ingredient to a team that ranked 26th in defensive efficiency.

It appeared that the asking price for Porzingis was incredibly high, though. The Latvian star remains on New York's roster, at least for now. The Knicks selected Frank Ntilikina out of France with the No. 28 pick. Monk, who averaged 19.8 points in his only season at Kentucky, went at No. 11 to the Charlotte Hornets. Ojeleye was a former Duke reserve, who transferred. IN used the No. 18 pick on UCLA forward T.J. Leaf, who is a poor defender and lacks strength. "I look as it as good".

It was just a bad weak for the Pacers.
