Read President Buhari's Eid-el-Fitr Message to Nigerians

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) posted a message on her Facebook page Sunday, sending greetings to the Muslim community, which is celebrating Eid al-Fitr, the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The senior general finally voiced the Iranian Armed Forces' readiness to bolster cooperation with the military forces and governments of the "friend and brother" countries. The Shawwal moon marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan.

It said the Shawwal crescent would be "born on crossing conjunction point" at 7:31am on June 24 and would be visible on the evening of June 25, which would be the 29th of Ramazan.

Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and also abstain from smoking and sex during daylight hours throughout Ramadan.

"Eid, it is the day of love and forgiveness and harmony", said Taqi Maulana, president, South India Shia Ulema Council.

"It is believed that the Quran was first revealed to Muhammad during the month of Ramadan".

Moon sighting is a tradition from the numerous traditions of Prophet (ﷺ) that has been closely adhered to by the Muslims for over 1400 years. Many criticized his campaign trail calls for the surveillance of mosques as Islamophobic. Traditionally, it is celebrated for three days and is an official holiday in all Muslim-majority countries.

Many Muslims also recite the takbir (declaration of faith) on the way to the prayer ground and take part in Zakat al-Fitr (charitable contributions).

As at the start of Ramadan, during which believers abstain from eating and drinking during daylight hours, Eid al-Fitr depends on the sighting of the moon and its celebration varies in different countries.

"I congratulate all Muslim faithful in the Lagos Central Senatorial District and Nigeria on the successful completion of this year's Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri".
