Los Angeles Lakers GM compares Lonzo Ball to...Tom Brady?

Magic Johnson, the Lakers' president of basketball operations, explained to the media Friday why he agreed to trade Russell to the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft, in which Los Angeles selected Ball.

Check out the footage below!

"I went to the high school", Johnson said.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) - Magic Johnson pointed a long index finger at the wall of the Los Angeles Lakers' training complex, where the 16-time National Basketball Association champions' nine retired numbers hang over the practice court.

Butler, one of the league's most dynamic two-way players, joined forces again with Thibodeau, who coached the Bulls for five seasons before being fired in 2015.

The Los Angeles Lakers' rookie is slightly ahead of a couple of Sixers, both of which were taken with the #1 overall pick. In a single breath, Johnson anointed Ball "the new face of the Lakers" and "the guy who will lead us back to where we want to get to". I think everybody understands playing with somebody with Lonzo's talent will make them better and also get them easier baskets.

Movgov had signed with the Lakers on the first day of free agency last summer to the tune of a four-year, $64 million deal.

"I'm happy to be home", Ball said.

Soon after, Johnson told Ball, 19, to look at a nearby wall, where several retired jerseys of Lakers icons are displayed.

Forgive me for having to type such hyperbole as LaVar Ball and marketing genius in the same sentence, but you gotta tip your overpriced Big Baller Brand hat to LaVar for not only talking it into actual existence, but using a form of stealth marketing in dropping BBB's new Laker-colored sneakers for only $495 dollars of course. Pelinka also made a trade, dealing a first-round pick for two other picks. "If I can come halfway short of him, you know it's going to be good".

If you ever wondered who taught LaVar Ball, the father of Lakers PG Lonzo Ball, how to act the way he does - look no further than Grandpa Ball.

Magic and LaVar appear to believe in Lonzo with equal fervor, if such a thing is possible. Just be forewarned, LaVar-the Lakers are on national television constantly, and if Lonzo doesn't live up to the hype, the spotlight is going to be blinding. Magic told Lonzo with a grin. "I asked your grandfather, 'Just let him leave me one'".
