Thursday night's NBA Draft was expected to present a more exciting crop of future NBA players than past year and had been lauded as holding the best potential draft class in recent memory. He has the talent to be an All-Star.
Point guard D'Angelo Russell was picked in that spot in 2015, followed by small forward Brandon Ingram in 2016. You're like "Oh I want this guy and this guy, this guy, I'd love to play with that guy" but you don't really think who's got to go in order for that to happen.
Grandpa Ball said he did not allow LaVar to play sports until he was a sophomore in high school. "I talked to the principal. I think he'll have a lot of success in Brooklyn and be part of turning that thing around". Grandpa Ball says he calls his son "Bravo", for reasons you might have already guessed. "We feel like we have that person right here in Lonzo Ball", added Johnson, while challenging Ball to live up to the hype. "I ain't tryin' to get hurt". The availability of top point guard prospects in this year's draft made Russell expendable, and so Magic seized the opportunity to sell low on Russell in order to send Timofey Mozgov's disgusting four-year, $64 million contract out the door on his coattails. Among the players who can or will be unrestricted free agents next summer include George, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan. It's clear the new Lakers' decision maker is going to back his decision to bring in Ball - who obviously brings a ton of media attention and some risk. "With the leading teams in the league today, we felt like to be able to look them in the eye and challenge them, we need two superstar players to come here and join this platform and join our core group of great players that we now have". Lakers fans should be excited. Just as Lavar Ball had added pressure by promising that Lonzo would lead the Lakers to the playoffs in his first season a day earlier, Johnson piled on pressure asking for a jersey on the wall and reminding everyone that he led the Lakers to a championship in his rookie season.
