The two insurers planning to offer medical coverage in IN through the federal Affordable Care Act in 2018 have proposed widely divergent price increases. Bernie would have paid for his plan by increasing the top U.S. income-tax rate to an astounding 52 percent, raising everyone else's income taxes by 2.2 percentage points, and raising payroll taxes by 6.2 points. While the percentage of transgender individuals with insurance is still less than that of the general population, the percentage of insured transgender individuals has noticeably increased. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) made the U.S. health care system better.
The Commonwealth Fund's Sara R. Collins told PBS's Charlie Rose (June 19) that short of a major shift to another model, such as single-payer health care, ACA is about as good a health program as a commercial insurance-based model can get, with plenty of room for bipartisan improvements. The Senate is writing the bill in secrecy - no hearings, no amendments; no input from subject matter experts, NO TRANSPARENCY.
"It's not real health insurance".

He adds insurance premiums for an average 64-year-old with an income of $27,000 would rise from $1,700 to more than $16,000 a year.
"A well-considered Medicaid reform proposal is necessary for this vital program to continue to provide access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations and the safety-net providers who serve them", they said. "What I mean by that, you know, only 42 percent of specialists in America will accept a Medicaid patient because the payment for patients is so much lower", Harris said. The two companies insure about 77,000 of the 147,000 Hoosiers who enrolled in Affordable Care Act plans this year. Regulators said they granted higher premiums for some companies after conditions changed since the original filing.
The House approved the Affordable Care Act on October 8, 2009; the Senate on Christmas Eve 2009. Now we can take pride in knowing that the same private insurance industry that owns the Republican Congress can now own our state's General Assembly.
These factors could increase the cost of providing health care coverage, and ACHA would not offer funding to close the gap. The bill would also repeal taxes on health insurance companies, medical device makers and drug companies.
The report concludes that health-sector employment would fall immediately in 2018 in 17 states: Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. With the proposed fine set at zero for individuals, many people will drop their overpriced medical insurance. The House bill, meanwhile, replaces ACA subsidies with tax credits tied to age.
Wittman's spokesman, Greg Lemon, said Thursday that Wittman's position on the House bill is "well-documented" and that there would be no comment on the Senate bill.
Another economic impact that will result from Medicaid cuts could be the loss of thousands of jobs created with the expansion of the program under the ACA and the associated economic stimulation that resulted from increased employment. But states could get waivers allowing insurers to charge people with pre-existing conditions way more.
"If the Trump-McConnell health care bill becomes law, it will threaten the lives of countless Americans", said HRC President Chad Griffin.
There is talk of a vote as early as next week after a Congressional Budget Office score is available.
