Going viral: Young fan sobs after India loses Champions Trophy finals

Pakistan the lowest-ranked team in the tournament shocked the world when they defeated India by 180 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

In Burhanpur, police officer Sanjay Pathak said the police hadn't been able to lay their hands on a video recording of the anti-India slogans and other celebrations.

Victorious Pakistan players dominated the Champions Trophy team of the tournament which was announced on Monday (Tuesday NZ time) with their captain Sarfraz Ahmed named captain of the side.

This comes a day after 15 people were arrested and charged with sedition in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly celebrating Pakistan's victory. The fifteenth man is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Reflecting on the announcement, Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the Pakistan team had lifted the spirit of nation by producing brilliant performance throughout the tournament.

Sedition in India is punishable by life imprisonment.

"It's never wise to try and make a call too early, but certainly the applications of both are very well founded", said Richardson.

It also means India will never be able to become the first team to win the Champions Trophy title thrice, but end up as one of the most successful teams in the competition.

Sarfraz, who had captained Pakistan to Under-19 World Cup 2006 triumph, especially credited the bowlers for dismissing India for 158.

The 50-over competition's future nearly always comes up for discussion when the tournament concludes, it was no different this time as Pakistan walked away with the spoils after beating India at the Oval on Sunday. "We don't have any previous cases or official complaints on record but those residing in Mohad have told us that this has happened before", he said.

In 2016, a Pakistani man was arrested after he waved an Indian flag when his idol, Indian batsman Virat Kohli, made a century.
