Crowd catches teen falling from park ride; no serious injury

The accident happened on the "Sky Ride" at Six Flags Amusement Park, about 90 kilometres north of Albany, New York.

Quick-thinking bystanders chose to step in and told the girl to wriggle free and drop down from the ride so they could catch her.

"The safety and security of our guests is our top priority", Wood said.

Some bystanders chose to do something and they got together and told the girl they could catch her and to wiggle loose.

The 14-year-old was rushed to hospital but is in a stable condition with no serious injuries after falling from the Sky Ride, reports Sky News. They quickly stopped the ride but the trapped girl's friend warned that the safety bar was choking her. The ride was stopped by an operator after getting word of a rider in distress, officials said.

Authorities say girl was riding the attraction and fell about 25 feet from a stationary two-person vehicle, striking a tree before landing in the crowd below.

Authorities said a 47-year-old man was also hospitalized when he hurt his back trying to catch the girl, but has since been released.

Sheriff's investigators assisted by park personnel inspected the ride and the auto the victim was riding in, and found that everything was in proper working order and all safety equipment was intact and operational at the time of the incident.
