Celtics turn to trust the process heading into 2017 Draft

"Once Boston got No 1, "Colangelo told reporters Monday at the team's training facility in Camden on Monday afternoon". Philly and Boston thought of it as a win-win situation, with both believing there's "little difference" in the level of talent between the first and third picks.

"It's very good value for us, and obviously (Philadelphia) wanted that No. 1 pick", said Ainge. In 2016, the Sixers picked Ben Simmons, who didn't play at all during the season after breaking a bone in his foot. However, with Philadelphia's move towards Fultz, how will this effect the rest of the NBA Draft?

Lonzo Ball of UCLA is expected to go No. 2 to the Lakers, although the sides have yet to reach agreement on a deal. The 76ers will be giving up their 2018 first-round pick that was received via the Los Angeles Lakers which Philly acquired during the 2015 National Basketball Association season from the Phoenix Suns. "And we still feel that way", Ainge said in a conference call.

The Sixers will choose first overall for the fourth time in team history.

For years, Boston Celtics fans have been begging general manager Danny Ainge to reach into his precious treasure chest of valuable draft picks and package them for a star.

Many around the National Basketball Association believe the Celtics could be gearing up for a big trade that could land them a superstar before they even go into free agency with cap space. The Celtics could pull the trigger on some of these first round picks to bring Butler, one of the best two way players in the National Basketball Association, to Boston with a starting lineup that already features Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, and Al Horford. If not, Philadelphia will send Boston either its own first-rounder in 2019 or Sacramentos first-rounder that year.

Boston is sending the first-overall pick to the Sixers for their third-overall pick and a future first rounder.

Together with Simmons, Jahlil Okafor and 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year finalists Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, the 76ers will have a young core of talent that could provide a formidable base upon which to rebuild the team.

Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 25 games during his lone college season at Washington, excelling on a team that finished 9-22 and lost its final 13 games.

Ainge explained why he made the trade several days before Thursday's draft, as opposed to seeing what might have developed as the event drew closer, by saying, "Sometimes when you get an offer you want, you don't want to wait for that offer to go away".

Philadelphia moved up in the 2017 NBA Draft to get the No. 1 pick, where Fultz is the obvious lead candidate. Durant opted out of about $28 million to become a free agent briefly in an effort to help Golden State re-sign sixth-man extraordinaire Andre Iguodala.
