Bruno Mars to open BET Awards

The “B” in BET Awards could stand for Beyonce, or Bruno Mars.

Jones is ready to laugh off any potential flubs.

"I would love for them to bring out a version of that now", she tells ESSENCE, "with fresh new comics".

Hosting the BET Awards is an accomplishment Jones can check off her list, but when she admits that she'd like to see the network revive ComicView, we wonder if she'd like to comeback to host it. Who will be performing at the BET Awards 2017?

Stonebwoy who won the 2015 BET Award for Best International Act: Africa, has been nominated again this year in the same category. Bruno Mars follows with five nominations.

Beyonce's other bids for "Lemonade" are for Album of the Year, Video Director and Viewers Choice. There will also be sibling rivalry in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, which also includes Mary J. Blige, Kehlani and Rihanna.

The event, which is being hosted by Leslie Jones, will be live streamed on and it will also be available on YouTube.

Fans hoping to get a peek at some of the action going on backstage can check out Twitter starting at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday for a livestream capturing behind the scenes moments. The 24-year-old rapper will join the likes of Jesse Williams, Al Sharpton, Muhammad Ali, John Legend and several others who have received the award in the past.

Yara Shahidi, Cardi B, Issa Rae, Jamie Foxx, La La Anthony, the cast of Universal Pictures' Girls Trip (Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah), Trevor Noah, Robin Thede, Cari Champion and Demetrius Shipp Jr. are all set to take the stage.
