It is not for the first time that Swaraj and Speaker have come face to face.
Ahead of the polls to elect the next President of India scheduled to be held in the month of July 2017, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj hit out at opposition's presidential candidate choice Meira Kumar. Just hours before, Ms Swaraj took to twitter to launch her attack on Ms. Kumar by sharing the 2013 video. The 6-minute video clip released by Ms Sushma Swaraj showed her accusing the then UPA government of corruption.
Party spokesperson Sanjay Jha said, the government is nervous over Meira Kumar's candidature.
Not only video but Ms Swaraj also attached a press clipping from little-known daily Pioneer which said Swaraj was interrupted by the Speaker for at least 60 times during the next 2 minutes of Swaraj's speech.
Earlier on Sunday, Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, shared an old video of Lok Sabha proceedings from 2013 and targetted Meira Kumar.
While the video displays Swaraj facing a lot of interruptions during her tirade about UPA being "the most corrupt government since independence", the interruptions were not caused by Meira Kumar, but rather by the commotion inside the Parliament due to Swaraj's assertions.
Ms. Swaraj's social media comments came on a day when Ms. Kumar wrote to members of the collegium for the Presidential election, asking them to heed the voice of conscience while casting their vote. Swaraj was seen questioning the neutrality of Kumar, pitted against BJP-led National Democratic Alliance candidate Ram Nath Kovind for the presidential contest. "All right", "Thank you", "Okay", "I have to proceed", the Speaker is heard saying, indicating that it was time for the Leader of Opposition to conclude her speech. "Someone of the stature of Pranab Da (Pranab Mukherjee), or even Sushma Swaraj or Advaniji (LK Advani) may have been made the candidate".
