Porzingis trade rumors: Suns, Celtics in the mix to land Knicks star

As the National Basketball Association draft is taking place Thursday night, New York Knicks owner James Dolan will be playing in a concert with his band, "JD & the Straight Shot", at a bar in Lower Manhattan.

New York's latest find in the draft was greeted with mostly boos from Knicks fans at Barclays Center when his name was announced by commissioner Adam Silver. "The new song has been a rousing audience favorite at JD & The Straight Shot shows".

"I think we know what we're doing", Jackson said.

Porzingiz isn't the only one who may feel like his days in a Knicks uniform are numbered.

The Knicks are definitely in an unenvious position as it will be very hard for them to lure other big names to play for them. "So we've been getting calls and we're listening, but we're not intrigued yet at this level".

However, Porzingis got on Jackson's bad side when he skipped out on his end-of-season exit interviews with Knicks management.

These talks seemed to have kicked off after Wednesday, when Knicks president Phil Jackson said that the team was listening to offers for Porzingis. "But as much as we love this guy, we have to do what's good for our club". It's not even that he signed Carmelo Anthony to a five-year, $124.9 million contract with a no-trade clause and then spent the last year trying to force him out of town with slights and insults. Ntilikina has been much more thoroughly vetted than many global prospects, as we've had a chance to see him play in multiple FIBA World Championships.

Translation: Porzingis has offended me, so I might trade him. Of course, anything can happen from now until the draft especially with Phil Jackson pulling the strings. The Knicks may be a woeful organization with frustrated fans who are beginning to feel beaten down - but Porzingis gives them hope. It takes time to rebuild with youth. "I think he's a good fit for us". Since Jackson took the role, the team has seen a losing record of 76-157.
