PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Sells 4 Million Copies In 3 Months

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is now available through Steam Early Access for $29.99, though it is expected to get a full release on PC and Xbox One later this year.

Thirteen weeks. That's the time needed for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to not only sell 4 million copies worldwide, but generate a staggering $100 million in revenue.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds seems to have struck a chord with PC gamers, earning praise for its fast-paced gameplay and huge online battles. Do you think the game will do well on consoles? With the game mode seeing success, the original Battlegrounds mod creator made a decision to release his own standalone version of the game- Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. Additionally, a new Assist feature will stop players from stealing kills outright, as both players will be awarded kills. In the meantime, fans can expect the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds community to grow in size as more people become aware of the game.

The further release of PUBG should only serve to further its efforts in putting more distance between itself and H1Z1: King of the Kill - who is still trying to realize a console release themselves.

Over the last few years, two major trends have taken over the Steam Early Access program- survival games and "battleground" games. Though if the game isn't going to be an Xbox exclusive, where else will it go than the PS4, the Switch?

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' booming success may be largely down to its developer's passion to make the best Battle Royale game possible.
