Fultz, Ball, Fox headline list of point guards in NBA draft

Despite some reports about how the Lakers might either trade their pick or choose a different player with it, many NBA analysts-and Lonzo's dad LaVar-are convinced that Magic Johnson is going to make Lonzo his first draft pick as the Lakers' president of basketball operations.

Either that, or Lonzo Ball was the second best player in the 2017 NBA Draft and that's why the Los Angeles Lakers took him at No. 2. So, does this mean that Lonzo Ball needs to hit the road and beg for other teams to take him?

With UCLA last season, Ball had a standout year as a freshman, averaging 14.6 points, 7.6 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals while shooting 41.2 percent from three and 55.1 percent from the field.

UCLA Bruins guard Lonzo Ball (2) shoots over Cincinnati Bearcats forward Gary Clark (11). With preternatural court vision and a desire to become a leader, Ball has everything the Lakers wanted on court. A Lonzo Ball, D'Angelo Russell backcourt can offer the Lakers both a promising playmaker and a talented scorer to help push them back into playoff contention.

By this point in the NBA Draft process LaVar Ball has become a household name, with his personality at times being the biggest talking point in the evaluations of his son Lonzo.

The lead up to the 2017 NBA Draft has been a roller coaster of trades and trade speculation on top of normal speculation as to which players would be drafted by various teams. Former and future No. 1 picks have already been dealt this week in what feels like the trade deadline, free agency and draft all rolled into one frenzy.

"That was said about me in college, said about me in high school", he said.

As in every draft, teams will have to wait on some of their players since so many of them are teenagers or someone who spent just one year in college.

"He's his own man", Walton said. I always tell [De'Aaron], let your game speak for it. "I want to stay home".

He said he had been open to working out for the Celtics and said it was possible they might draft him, anyway. "You look at the top end of the draft and I think there's a chance that there's going to be a lot of very good players, but it also runs deep into the late first round".

"They came up short, but one game doesn't define his season", Ball told ESPN days after the game. No other U.S. college player averaged 14 points with six rebounds and six assists a game as well.
