Celtics make Chaminade's Tatum No. 3 pick in National Basketball Association draft

He won the Big 12 Freshman of the Year Award and was named a Third-team All-American.

The Suns chose then-18-year-old forward Dragan Bender with their pick last year, third overall, then acquired Sacramento's eighth selection from the Kings and chose 19-year-old forward Marquese Chriss. Boston selected Jaylen Brown with its first-round pick in 2016.

"I talked about that with coach Stevens and he said guys at my size and my position and are able to hit open shots and defend the one through the four, it's hard not to play those guys so that's how he looks at using me if they were to draft me", Tatum said. He's a great, great scorer. "As a rookie I can come in and just be ready to work and learn from the other guys in locker room".

Anyone with internet access can figure out the NBA Draft minutes before the picks are announced on TV. "He can play both guard spots. I really want to get out there and see where I stack up against some of the best players in the world". Another thing to watch out for is how team's view Jackson's foot surgery, which may prevent teams from drafting the talented guard.

The Sixers move from No. 3 to No. 1 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft might not be the only move they make.

On the eve of the NBA Draft, Duke's Jayson Tatum says he still doesn't know where he will land despite working out twice recently for the Boston Celtics.

Of Brad Stevens, Smith said, "He knows basketball". They had their highest pick going into the draft since 1998, when they ended up with Dirk Nowitzki, who is preparing for his 20th season. I was all for it. "I'm trying not to cry right now".

Tatum added, "It's a great compliment and I'm excited that Danny Ainge thinks that highly of me".

He was a widely regarded top-five high school prospect and largely lived up to his hype at Duke. "I think if I become a bigger, or a stronger player physically, it will help me".

Ainge appears willing to gamble that a season in Boston will be enough to convince George to re-sign a long-term deal in the summer of 2018 which would be a win-win in terms of bolstering their chances to compete with Cleveland for Eastern Conference supremacy, and keep him away from the Lakers.

He turned out to be correct.

If that's the case then it really sounds like the Celtics are leaning towards Duke forward Jayson Tatum with that No. 3 overall pick.

He wouldn't comment on any of the potential trades the Celtics were rumored to have been offered Thursday, but did say "It was a little blown out of proportion; I'll leave it at that".

Even though the Suns had the second-worst record in the National Basketball Association last season, they have a stud scorer in 20-year-old Devin Booker, who had an insane 70-point game in March, and a pair of skilled point guards in Eric Bledsoe and Tyler Ulis.
