76ers make Fultz first pick in NBA Draft

The Philadelphia 76ers will be a playoff team in 2018.

The inevitable was made official Thursday night when the 76ers selected Markelle Fultz with the first pick of the National Basketball Association draft.

As Lonzo walked on stage to meet commissioner Adam Silver and put on a purple Lakers cap, LaVar put on a gold and purple Big Baller Brand cap, the company he has started.

The choice of Fultz fits in nicely with Philadelphia's rebuilding programme. "I think our games could help each other out a lot". Or rather, The Process.

The tweet was quickly deleted, but not after several thousand fans were able to get a laugh at the blunder. Starting point guard Jrue Holiday is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and New Orleans traded his backup, Tim Frazier, to Washington on Wednesday for the 52nd pick in the draft.

Fultz, the 6-foot-4 guard, was selected No. 1 overall in the National Basketball Association draft Thursday night and joined former LSU guard Ben Simmons as consecutive top picks for the Sixers.

Fultz found out that Philly has six of the popular food chain establishments.

"It is truly a blessing", said Fultz of his rapid ascent after one season at Washington. "Today is a good day".

Makelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball went 1-2, as expected in Thursday night.

Chicago is going to need Dunn to make significant strides and LaVine to come back healthy to make this a successful deal.

The Sixers might have to be patient again because Fultz and Simmons will not only be learning how to play together but will also be doing so while playing their first National Basketball Association minutes ever, after Simmons missed all of last season with a foot injury. Despite the precautionary steps, Embiid played in only 31 games and needed surgery on his left knee in March. "By adding a player of Markelle's caliber to our promising roster, we believe we're incredibly well positioned for the future".

Colangelo said Embiid would have no minutes' restrictions this season, provided he stays healthy. Markelle said he "got some sleep".

The hard part for Sixers head coach Brett Brown is to get this group on the same page and hope that they can survive training camp and preseason without anyone ending up on the injured list. A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Utah Jazz traded the No. 24 pick, Syracuse forward Tyler Lydon, and forward Trey Lyles to the Nuggets for Mitchell.

No worries, for now.

American Terrance Ferguson, who played for the Adelaide 36ers in the ANBL last season, was drafted to the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 21st pick of the first round.

"Those young guys need nurturing and they need veteran leadership". He averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while flashing his ability to explode to the rim and shoot from mid-range and beyond the three-point line. "This is a tremendous night for the Sixers and our great fans".
