Virat Kohli deletes tweet welcoming Anil Kumble as head coach in 2016

Kumble said that his partnership with Kohli was "untenable" hence it was necessary that he quit.

India are set to play a five-match one-day series, starting with an ODI against West Indies in Port of Spain, and also a T20 fixture while touring the Caribbean.

The BCCI has now deputed its general manager Dr M.V. Sridhar to supervise the team management for the West Indies tour.

Richard Pybus is former English Cricketer whose cricketing career was limited but as a coach he is widely experienced, successfully guiding Pakistan to the finals of 1999 World Cup but lost to Australia.

On June 20, Anil Kumble resigned as head coach of the India team. "And we all respect him totally".

Former captain Sunil Gavaskar was critical of the circumstances that led to Kumble's departure.

"Since, Kohli had strong reservations against him, Kumble made a decision to gracefully leave the scene on his own", the official said. India's ace shooter and only gold medalist in an individual event at the Olympics, Abhinav Bindra took a dig at Kohli and slammed him indirectly.

All of this spawns from the Twitter message that departing coach Anil Kumble left, clearly stating that there were issues between him and Team India captain Virat Kohli and other players, who found his approach overbearing and "headmasterly".

After staying mum for several days on Kumble, Virat Kohli on Thursday broke his silence. "As I said, his (Kumble) point of view is out there and we respect that decision", he added.

While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension to his tenure as head coach, Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach.

"What's more important for me is to maintain the sanctity of the dressing room". As I said, sometimes there are differences of opinion and BCCI tried its level best to resolve the whole issue but sometimes things don't work.

He also guided India to one-day global series wins over New Zealand and England with losses coming only in a Twenty20 series against the West Indies and in last week's Champions Trophy final, where they lost to Pakistan.

Azhar said it was time for the BCCI to step in and define particular roles for captain and coach to avoid such controversies in the future.
