Sixers take guard Fultz with top pick of NBA Draft

The Boston Celtics made the first move of this year's National Basketball Association draft days before it began when they traded the No. 1 overall pick to Philadelphia to build on an already rich cache of future selections. Fultz will give them instant offense. Former and future No. 1 picks have already been dealt this week in what feels like the trade deadline, free agency and draft all rolled into one frenzy.

Tatum said he stayed in contact with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski throughout the draft process, and it was Coach K who encouraged him to take the Celtics up on their last-minute invitation.

With a myriad of trade whispers taking over the basketball universe over the last few days, you can only assume that they will only get louder on draft day - or night.

"He never changed his expression", Stevens said last night of Tatum's workout demeanor. The Celtics could also do well to add more versatile floor spacers like Green and Jerebko if they lose either/both. He's a terrific kid and a good player. According to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski teams are jostling to secure a high enough pick to obtain Jackson's services.

It was unlikely that Ainge put Tatum or the third pick into play with the Pacers, considering that most believe George will ultimately join his hometown Lakers.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and Markelle Fultz have more in common than simply sharing a zip code in the Philadelphia sports complex.

Since Self's arrival before the 2003-04 season, the Jayhawks have produced 21 total draft picks (14 first-rounders and 7 second-rounders), three top 5 picks (Wiggins, Embiid and Thomas Robinson) and 10 lottery picks (Wiggins, Embiid, Robinson, Ben McLemore, Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris, Cole Aldrich, Xavier Henry, Brandon Rush and Julian Wright).

Jackson canceling the workout didn't rule him out from contention to be drafted No. 3 overall, but it didn't sit too well with Ainge.

The Celtics, however, weren't even sure Jackson was serious about dealing Porzingis, who has been on the Knicks personnel chief's bad side since skipping his season-ending exit interview.

The Sixers made four picks in the second round: UCLA and Australian forward Jonah Bolden; Oklahoma State guard Jawun Evans, SMU guard Sterling Brown and power forward Mathias Lessort out of France.
