Dyson sparks Mariners to a 7-5 comeback win over Tigers

In the bottom of the sixth inning of Wednesday's Detroit-Seattle game at Safeco Field, Mike Zunino popped up a foul ball that floated into the stands down the first-base line. "Dyson made a great bunt and kind of took it from there".

A Cruz single plated Cano with the seventh run.

The Seattle Mariners have called up Andrew Moore, one of their top pitching prospects in the minors.

Cabrera led off with a single up the middle, then J.D. Martinez hit a soft liner to center.

After his 100th and final pitch of the night, his night, Andrew Moore strolled back to the Mariners' dugout, greeted there with a round of hearty handshakes from teammates and coaches. But Povse didn't make it out of the eighth inning, allowing three runs on four hits.

Seattle starter James Paxton struck out eight Tigers over 5 1/3 innings.

Diamondbacks 10, Rockies 3: Paul Goldschmidt and Chris Owings hit three-run homers, Zack Godley threw well into the eighth inning, and Arizona beat Colorado. Tigers LF Justin Upton went 2-for-4 and has reached base safely in 19 straight games.

"I'm not looking for my power numbers, but sometimes you've got men in scoring position or in situations", Cano said.

Mariners: Felix Hernandez (2-2, 4.73) is expected to be activated from the DL (right shoulder inflammation) and start the series opener against Houston.

"He got in a good count against a really good left-handed pitcher".

"The way he was throwing out there, I just thought if we could get him in the stretch, get him off his comfort zone, and we did", Mariners manager Scott Servais said about Verlander.

Nearly as good was Detroit starter Jordan Zimmermann, who threw 6 2/3 innings allowing three runs and striking out seven. Ben Gamel - who else? - doubled to right to plate both runners with double and extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Gave up the solo shot and had a rough patch there in the fifth, but came back to put two more zeros. INF Tyler Smith was optioned to Triple-A.

Moore, replacing veteran Yovani Gallardo in the rotation, was the 30th different pitcher the Mariners have used this season (most in the majors) and the 13th different starting pitcher the club has used (also most in the majors). The ace right-hander was 2-0 with 4.15 ERA in three rehab starts at Tacoma.
