Crystal Palace to appoint Frank de Boer as manager

If de Boer decides to accept Palace's offer, would become the club's third boss in a year following the sacking of Alan Pardew and Allardyce leaving in late May.

"It's the biggest league - everybody knows it, everybody's watching the Premier League".

Crystal Palace's search for a new manager looks as though it is coming to an end as various sources have said that former Ajax and Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer looks set to take charge at Selhurst Park.

I doubt Frank De Boer would have imagined being out of work having left Ajax this time a year ago?

Palace were reportedly keen on appointing Marco Sliva before he elected to join Watford, and have also shown interest in Mauricio Pellegrino, who is now believed to be joining Southampton.

The younger of the twins, both former Dutch internationals, is deciding this weekend whether to accept Palace's offer.

Former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers defender De Boer has been out of work since he lost his job at Inter Milan in November past year.

He returned in 2007 as a youth coach and went on to take charge of the first team over a six-season spell which yielded four Dutch titles.

Crystal Palace compiled a list of candidates and then spoke to each to determine who would be first choice.

De Boer is thought to have impressed the Palace hierarchy with his knowledge of the club and his footballing vision.

De Boer tested positive for nandrolone in 2001 and was initially banned but later reinstated on appeal.

"Managing a Premier League team is a desire of every manager".

De Boer made his name at Ajax, where he starred as a player for over 11 years.
