When the Boston Celtics traded the first overall pick in this summer's National Basketball Association draft to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for their third-overall pick and a future first-rounder, Celts fans were up in arms. "That's our goal. That's where we want to be".
Australia's Ben Simmons is nearly certain to team up with top point guard prospect Markelle Fultz in Philadelphia next season after the 76ers and Boston Celtics confirmed their National Basketball Association draft deal. And we'll get an additional player that we want in next year's draft, or the year after. He also has very good defensive instincts and quick hands on both sides of the ball. But his rookie year will come in 2017 after he suffered a broken foot prior to the start of the regular season, with the Sixers opting to keep him sidelined.
The, literal, million dollar question is: Who will ultimately go at No. 1? Like another player the team is high on, Josh Jackson, Jayson Tatum has the ability to create his own shot and give the team some much needed rebounding. I have a good relationship with Bryan Colangelo and Jerry Colangelo and I think they're doing a fantastic job there in Philadelphia.
So the way he looks at it, the deal is a win-win.
For now, Boston has seven first-round picks in the next three years.
Less than two weeks removed from the NBA finals, the association is already grabbing headlines as it gears up for the offseason.
There had been talk recently that a trade was in the works but nothing had been made official. "I think that we have several in the top five or six that could've fit a certain way and helped us along".

ANALYSIS: Should the Philadelphia 76ers decide to pick Lonzo Ball, there are other options left for the Los Angeles Lakers who will pick at No. 2. It was agreed to in principle at that point, with the last holdup being the customary league approval on the terms.
In adding an additional future first-round pick, Ainge has yet another asset to dangle in front of a team ready to get rid of a star in order to rebuild. The Celtics will get the pick if it falls in slots 2-5 in next summer's National Basketball Association draft lottery.
The future first-round pick that Boston will receive will be the Los Angeles Lakers' first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, provided that such pick is No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, or No. 5 in the 2018 NBA Draft. "But we're not afraid of that".
With Thomas, though, the Celtics didn't necessarily need a point guard - which is the piece Philadelphia apparently wanted most. He was the top freshman scorer in the country. Ben Simmons didn't lead LSU to the NCAA Tournament in his only season in Baton Rouge, and that didn't stop the Sixers from making him the No. 1 pick past year. But the addition of Fultz to a talented albeit unproven young core that includes Simmons, center Joel Embiid and power forward Dario Saric would certainly make the 76ers one of the NBA's most intriguing teams next season.
