76ers take Fultz with top pick in NBA draft

Fultz, a point guard, played one season at Washington before going pro, and was widely expected to be the first player chosen.

Kansas' Josh Jackson wore a rather stunty Rolex.

The UCLA product with preternatural court vision is among the most intriguing prospects in the National Basketball Association draft this week. Secondly, it gives them an extra asset to try to pry George from the Pacers and get him in the fold before he hits the open market.

At the NBA Combine, Mason was measured at 5-foot-11 - small by NBA standards, even for a point guard. Now they add Fultz to a promising young core that includes Rookie of the Year finalists Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, plus Australian Ben Simmons, the top pick from last year who sat out all season with a foot injury.

They then completed a trade with the Boston Celtics and are expected to take the Washington guard to begin the action Thursday night.

"It is a dream come true and a blessing", said Ball.

UCLA's Lonzo Ball sported a Big Baller Brand tie, as did his father, LaVar.

"Tonight was supposed to be a good night".

Teams seem to have one eye on the draft and future stars like Fultz and Lonzo Ball, while the other is firmly focused on jockeying for proven veterans. "It just shows you how this business is and like I said, I just go with the flow".

Seemingly confirming the perception that the text Fultz was using in his post was prefabricated for him by Tissot, a handful of other draft picks, including De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Frank Ntilikina and Zach Collins all used extremely similar phrasing in Instagram posts of their own.

Fultz was a bit of a late bloomer, failing to make his high school's varsity team his freshman and sophomore years.

Lonzo Ball isn't wasting any time in trying to get some help in Los Angeles - if he lands there.

Malik Monk was overwhelmed at the idea of being drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, a team owned by former National Basketball Association star Michael Jordan. "I believe I fill in every box on both ends of the floor". If one of those picks in 2019 are first overall, the Celtics will get the less favorable of the two. "He's got that kind of size and length and he's really incredible in transition.to say that he's an elite passer I believe is an understatement". Duke had two players selected in the lottery and four players among the first 31 picks.

The Sixers went 28-54 this past season, after winning 19, 18 and 10 games in the previous three seasons, starting the rebuilding campaign. Nine of the first 10 selections played one season of college ball.

The Sixers kept the project rolling later in the first round, striking a deal with Orlando to acquire the 25th pick, center Anzejs Pasecniks from Latvia.

The NBA champion Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers didn't have a pick in the two-round draft.
