76ers, Celtics fans set to pack arena for draft

Fultz loves it so much that he wore shoes made out of basketballs to the draft.

Boston made the deal to get yet another asset to add to its treasure chest, while Philadelphia moved up to No. 1 in order to take Washington point guard Markelle Fultz and add him to the talented young core in Philly.

The Knicks formerly offered Porzingis for Booker and the No. 4 pick in this year's draft - a proposal that was quickly shut down by the Suns.

"It's been a little insane last couple days", Duke forward Jayson Tatum said Wednesday. With Russell out of the picture, the Lakers are in position to take UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball. "He really wanted me to go up there and work out for them". All-Stars and Olympic champions such as Paul George and Jimmy Butler are front and center in trade talk that usually isn't this heavy until February.

Every year a number of players declare for the draft who would be well suited developing at the prep level for another year. One would have to believe that the Celtics are targeting at No. 3 either former Kansas Jayhawks forward Josh Jackson or former Duke Blue Devils forward Jayson Tatum.

Things are expected to settle down a bit for at least the first two picks. Celtics President Danny Ainge said after making the trade he thought he could get the player he wanted two spots lower.

At 6-foot-6 (1.98 m), Ball plays a style that harkens back to the "Showtime" days of the Lakers, dishing off no-look passes, launching threes and finishing at the hoop with rim-jarring slam dunks. Sacramento has two picks in the top-10 at No. 5 and No. 10.

FRESHMAN FUN: The record of 14 freshmen selected in the first round might last just one year.

"We're two great players and we'll do whatever it takes to help us win", Fultz added.
