The US military just shot down another Syrian drone

A U.S. F-15E fighter aircraft shot down an Iranian-made drone over southern Syria on Tuesday, the USA military said, marking the second time this week that the us military has shot a pro-Syrian government aircraft out of the sky.

"The Coalition has made it clear to all parties publically [sic] and through the de-confliction line with Russian forces that the demonstrated hostile intent and actions of pro-regime forces toward Coalition and partner forces in Syria conducting legitimate counter-ISIS operations will not be tolerated", it said.

U.S officials said the pro-Syrian troops violated a de-confliction agreement between Washington and Moscow and had "threatened" USA fighters and allied rebels.

It was an Iranian-made Shahed 129 and was thought to be armed and in firing range of United States troops.

For the first time in two years, Syrian troops reached the border with Iraq, establishing a link with Iraqi forces that were advancing on their side, and outflanking USA troops and allied rebels in Tanf, near the border with Jordan. A similar drone was shot down in the same location after it dropped munitions near coalition forces on June 8.

The incident closely followed Sunday's US downing of a piloted Syrian army jet in the southern Raqqa countryside after it dropped bombs near USA -backed forces.

The Syrian government SU-22 dropped bombs near the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Russian Federation said on Monday it would treat US-led coalition aircraft flying west of the River Euphrates in Syria as potential targets and track them with missile systems and military aircraft, but stopped short of saying it would shoot them down.

Russian Federation announced on Monday it was suspending the hotline, but the us said it was still functioning as of Monday morning.

In September 2016, US-led coalition planes targeting IS positions instead killed Syrian troops.

"There has been neither a Security Council decision, nor a request from the official authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic as a sovereign state", Russia's Interfax news reported.

More recently a US jet shot down a Syrian Air Force jet over the weekend after it struck USA -allied forces, marking one of the greatest escalations since the US entered the Syrian conflict in 2014.

"To be perfectly frank, no one can really match the United States in conventional terms, and certainly not Russian armed forces", said Borshchevskaya.

The announcement from Canberra came as a brief, two-day truce collapsed in the southern Syrian city of Daraa and nearby areas where government forces have gained ground.

Military experts shuddered at the thought that Russian Federation and the U.S. were operating within mere miles of each other with no mechanism to deconflict possible incidents, but Russian Federation reestablished the deconfliction lines just days later.

Australia is part of the coalition fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) in Iraq. US warplanes launched three other airstrikes against the forces there.

In September, Australia said it would widen the scope of targets in the air war against ISIL by allowing its pilots to strike support and logistics resources in Iraq and Syria.

The push by Syrian government forces in the Daraa area appears headed for the Jordanian border, two weeks after Assad's troops reached the border with Iraq for the first time in years.

ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) - Georgia voters steadily streamed into suburban Atlanta polling places Tuesday to decide the most expensive House race in USA history and put weeks of television ads, phone calls and ringing doorbells behind them.
