Snapchat Announces Snap Map

With Snap Map, you can choose whether you want to share your location and Actionmoji with all of your friends, with select friends, or with no one. Snapchat has in the past been criticized for the fact that it's relatively hard to find new users to connect with or stories to watch, partially because of its purposefully obfuscating user interface.

If your friends share their location with you, you can see where they are on the Snap Map.

According to Snapchat, if you and a friend follow one another, you can share your locations with each other, making meeting up easier.

To access the new feature (after updating the app), users have to pinch with two fingers on the home screen of the app-something that's almost impossible to do if you only have one hand free. Many users will want to start out small, by sharing with a small group, especially while the feature rolls out.

With the map, users can view snaps of different events taking places across the world. Find more information on the new Snap Map feature here.

To turn on the feature, all you have to do is pinch the screen and the map will appear.

Snapchat users can click on the "Actionmoji" to begin a chat. Users will also be able to browse photos and videos from specific locations around the world, including breaking news events. You can simply remain in Ghost Mode, Snapchat says. You can turn this on or off whenever you want.

Users will have to opt into sharing their location, and if they do, it will update every time they open the app.

If special lenses and geotags weren't enough, Snapchat is adding a new way to see what your friends are up to across the globe.
