New Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer Rains Ice & Fire

The trailer opens with a solemn Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) walking through what looks like Winterfell, as Littlefinger (Aiden Gillan) intones: "Don't fight in the North or the South. Fight every battle everywhere".

Battle scenes play out as Jon speaks, showing Daenerys' army - comprised of unsullied and Dothraki fighters - storm the gate of what may be Casterly Rock.

At the end of Game of Thrones Season 6, Cersei Lannister shocked everyone by taking the Iron Throne for herself. In the absence of Maggy the Frog to deliver credible predictions, we'll have to make do with a stirring new trailer for the show's penultimate season. Who will die? We will know more in a few weeks ...

It takes an vast amount of luck for a character to survive in a show like Game of Thrones.

A new trailer for season seven of the fantasy series was released by the network on Wednesday. Will Cersei Lannister maintain her grip on it (or her sanity)? And this confirms that Game of Thrones might challenge the Westworld season finale yet, which concluded at a feature length running time.

After being such a central figure in the sixth season, it was a bit curious to see Bran not featured in the first trailer for season 7.

"As we saw in the last episode of season six, Bran's (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) psychic time-traveling "greenlight" revealed the true nature of Jon's birth heritage and his real name: Jaehaerys Targaryen", it reads.

Although it's now the summer season, winter has still finally come!

Game of Thrones' season seven begins screening in New Zealand on Sky TV's SoHo channel and Neon service on July 17. The most recent trailer only furthers the speculation.

It seems like the choices made were deliberate, and these 12 Game of Thrones characters are the ones to watch out for when Season 7 premieres on July 16.
