Kluivert: Verratti wants to join Barca but PSG won't let him leave

The former Dutch striker left his role at the Parc des Princes earlier this summer and replaced by Antero Henrique.

The Italy global has been linked with a reunion with Antonio Conte, his former manager with the Azzurri, at Stamford Bridge but the player is understood to have his heart set on a move to Barcelona as Andres Iniesta's long-term successor.

Verratti, 25, has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp as Ernesto Valverde looks to bolster his ranks ahead of next season.

He added: "Verratti's worth more than that", he said.

"It's going to be very hard [for Barca to sign him]".

Verratti has had a 100m euro (£88m) price tag slapped on his head by PSG in a bid to ward off La Blaugrana from making a concrete offer for the 24-year-old. "Verratti's worth more than € 100 million", he told the Spanish TV.

Calciomercato.com exclusively reported yesterday that the Italy star has already reached an agreement with Barcelona although Psg do not want to listen to any offer for the former Pescara promise.

Last week, agent Donato Di Campli confirmed that his client is pondering his future after Paris Saint-Germain failed to improve in recent years. "I feel that I am managing a champion and champions need to win, so I am asking questions that I think anybody in my position would".

"Any club tries to sign players, even if they have a long contract".
