Two militants killed in Kashmir

According to a senior police official, the slain terrorists have been identified as Basit Ahmad Mir, a resident of Indergam Pattan, and Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Brat Sopore.

Two militants are believed to have been killed in an encounter with security forces early on Wednesday in Rafiabad in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, an Army official said.

At the time when this report was filed the cordon and search operation was still underway by the security forces.

The operation started last evening but was suspended during the night though the forces maintained the cordon to prevent the militants from escaping. Two local militants from Zaingeer area are said to be trapped.

The encounter took place at Pazalpora area of Sopore where the two militants were holed up inside a house.

Terrorists on Tuesday night attacked headquarters of 180 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion camp in Tral located in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
