Trump says China NKorea pressure hasn't worked

"The United States of America can not and should not tolerate the murder of its citizens by hostile powers", the Senator added.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang called Warmbier's death a "tragedy".

Relatives have said they were told by United States envoys that North Korean officials claimed Warmbier contracted botulism after his trial and lapsed into a coma after taking a sleeping pill.

19 June 2017 - Mr Warmbier dies.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg News on May 1, Trump said he "would absolutely" meet Kim "under the right circumstances", and that he "would be honored to do it", signaling willingness to address North Korea's nuclear ambitions via diplomacy.

Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American missionary who spent nearly two years in a North Korean prison before he was released in November 2014, asked people to pray for Warmbier's family.

"We can not know for sure that North Korea killed Mr Warmbier, but I believe it is quite clear that they have a heavy responsibility in the process that led to his death", Mr Moon told CBS television's "This Morning".

Moon, who was elected on a plan to engage in talks with North Korea, said he agreed with Trump on being willing to participate in a dialogue with North Korea under certain conditions, given that sanctions and worldwide pressure have not resolved the situation.

The remaining Americans in North Korea are Kim Dong Chul, a naturalized USA citizen sentenced to a decade in prison for spying, and two Pyongyang professors awaiting trial for alleged hostile acts.

Two of the detainees were teachers at a Pyongyang university funded by overseas Christian groups, and the third was a Korean-American pastor accused of espionage for the South.

The State Department, meanwhile, said it is studying a possible restriction against us nationals traveling to North Korea to prevent the recurrence of similar instances.

"I think the first objective has to be to get the three other Americans out, and get a full explanation of what happened to Otto Warmbier".

"The question is, do I think the past administration could have done more?" he shot back, adding, "I think the results speak for themselves".

University of Virginia President Teresa A. Sullivan says her thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of 22-year-old Otto Warmbier (WORM'-bir) "during what has been an incredibly hard time".

A Japanese diplomat said Warmbier's death showed that now was not the time to talk to North Korea and that allies must maintain unity in pressuring Pyongyang with sanctions.

"It's a crime against humanity, what the North Koreans did", Richardson, the former Democratic governor of New Mexico, told Brooke Baldwin on CNN.

Tensions between the two countries have increased in recent months because of North Korea's missile and nuclear activities. He was put before North Korean officials and journalists for a televised "confession". And we will continue to hopefully build on the relationship and the dialogue that we've had with China.

China, North Korea's longtime communist ally and biggest source of economic and diplomatic assistance, provides the largest numbers of tourists to the country by far. So, it's quite possible that Trump was watching news reports about the death of an American student at North Korean hands Tuesday, and felt compelled to express his disappointment with the limitations of China's efforts.

The senator from Arizona says, "There should at least be a form for them to fill out that says, 'If I go to North Korea, I understand I am taking great risk, and I do not hold the American government responsible'". "At least I know China tried!"

President Donald Trump, in a statement, called the regime of Kim Jong-Un brutal and said it fails to respect the rule of law or human decency.
