Torino: 'Andrea Belotti may reject Manchester United even if valuation met'

Belotti has enjoyed an impressive season in the Serie A and while Urbano Cairo has confirmed he would like his star asset to stay at the club, he won't have an option if United trigger his release clause.

The Italian striker, who scored 28 goals in 35 Serie A appearances this season, has been heavily linked with a move away from Torino this summer with Manchester United said to be leading the chase.

"I care about Belotti and I'm keeping hold of him", Cairo was quoted as saying by Four Four Two.

"He has a contract with Torino until 2021".

It was also claimed that Jose Mourinho personally called Belotti in late April to make the 23-year-old aware of United's interest.

"Belotti is on worldwide duty and on Thursday he's getting married - he invited me", Cairo told Radio 24, as reported by Football Italia.

"After that, there's a release clause that would force me to sell him, providing someone came in with €100m from overseas".

"The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I believe he wants to stay".

The Europa League champions had initially hoped to include Matteo Darmian in any transfer, or arrange a structured deal, but Torino have so far proven reluctant.

The France worldwide was demanding to be made the highest-paid player at Old Trafford and United were ready to stump up - which was not lost on the Belotti camp.

Reports suggest the Red Devils are lining up a £71million offer for Belotti in the coming weeks and United fans got the chance to see the Torino attacker in action on Sunday evening.
