Real Madrid President Reveals Incredible Story About Neymar

Barcelona star Neymar had a medical at Real Madrid and nearly joined the Catalans' great rivals, according to Bernabeu club president Florentino Perez.

Real Madrid right-back Danilo has revealed that Neymar tried to convince him to join Barcelona during the summer of 2015.

He told Spanish radio station Onda Cero: 'Neymar passed a medical with Madrid.

However, given the two La Liga giants' bitter rivalry that has stretched throughout the ages, Perez explained that it would have been impossible to try and prise Messi away from the Nou Camp during his youth days at Barca's famed La Masia academy. "We then saw that it wasn't possible for him to come and that was that".

After tearing it up for Santos and the Brazilian national team, Neymar quickly became one of the hottest talents in world football and a long queue for his signature formed, and featured the very biggest clubs in the world.

As reported by Goal, Perez said: "Real Madrid have once again done something that nobody else has achieved to date".

As a result, the 12-time European Champions chose to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham for a then world-record transfer fee of £86m.

Bale endured a tough campaign last season, a number of injuries restricting his involvement.

"The only thing I can say is Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player". It hasn't finished yet and I don't want to disturb the Portuguese team.

Real Madrid defender Danilo will probably leave the Spanish capital in the summer.

"I don't think they've been suffering".
