Police officer stabbed at Bishop Airport in Flint

There has been an attack on a police officer at Bishop International Airport in Flint.

Police confirmed to WOOD TV8's NBC affiliate WEYI that an airport police officer, identified as Lt. Jeff Neville, was stabbed at the airport Wednesday morning.

Ken Brown, a witness to the Flint airport stabbing, told MLive that he saw the police officer bleeding from the neck and on his hands and knees on the floor.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A witness tells The Flint Journal he saw the officer bleeding form his neck. Police also posted on Twitter that the airport will remain closed until further notice. He also saw a man detained by police and a knife on the ground.

Bishop International Airport posted on Facebook that passengers were safe and were being told to check for flight delays or cancellations.

"Right now we are still awaiting more information about the situation at Bishop Airport this morning", said Mayor Karen Weaver.

United, Delta, American Airlines, Southwest, and Allegiant airlines all operate out of the Bishop International Airport.

The FBI is the lead agency in the case, according to MSP.
