Nokia Body Scale and Nokia BPM+ blood pressure monitor launched

Nokia has launched two new healthcare devices as it rebranded the Withings subsidiary it acquired previous year.

Finally, the redesigned Nokia Health Mate app promises smarter - and more productive - handling of all that data.

The product line is created to fit multiple different lifestyles and is focused on changing the dynamic between patients, doctors and the medical community with tools to prevent chronic diseases.

"To face the global health crisis of chronic diseases related to lifestyle and behaviour, we need powerful and engaging tools and solutions", said Nokia Chief Medical Officer, Matthew Diamond, MD, PhD.

Nokia has officially completed the transition of digital health products from Withings, which have all been rebranded under the Nokia name. Although many knew Withings primarily for its handsome, analog-styled smartwatches, the company actually has a much broader line-up of digital health devices.

The Nokia BPM+ blood pressure monitor costs $129 and is controlled through the Health Mate app.

Weight Trend Screen: See progress during each weigh-in to stay motivated. The existing Withings Body scale, which measures body fat, is now the Nokia Body Plus, while the Withings Body Cardio is now the Nokia Body Cardio; which measures bodyfat and analyses cardiovascular health. It's now easier and quicker to navigate around menus within the app and it now comes with eight-week wellness programs to help each individual user achieve their weight goals and overall well-being. Along with that, though, is the BMI measurement and with the availability of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can sync the data with the app.

Personalized Coaching: With the Nokia Health Mate app, users can personalize their goals within the app and track activity and food intake.

Blood Pressure Monitor: Nokia BPM, a FDA-cleared and medical CE approved wireless blood pressure monitor. The company's health oriented product lineup is now available for purchase through the firm's online store as well as partner retailers around the globe, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

According to the Verge, other Withings products such as the activity and sleep tracker, Go and Home which is a video and air quality monitor could also make the mark.

Products are available worldwide.

While Nokia's current endeavors, such as the Nokia 6 smartphone or even its health offerings might not be as big a draw as Samsung and Apple devices, it seems the company is trying to claw its way back into the market.
