In the deposition, which was read out loud in the Norristown, Pennsylvania, courtroom, Cosby said he was "thinking and praying that I'm not being recorded" by Constand and her mother because he believed her "mother is coming at me for being a dirty old man".
"I want to be the person that I would like to have if the tables were turned", she said.
It's not clear yet what forms the Cosby defense will take; most notably, Deadline reports that it's looking possible that the man himself might take the stand in his own defense. He said the effects Constand described in her testimony "could be consistent with ingestion" of Benadryl.
"If it's a well-known person, the victim takes on a lot of responsibility for that person's reputation".
Assistant District Attorney Kristen Feden point out that the defense had questioned Constand's behavior, spending nearly an hour grilling her about phone calls to Cosby in the weeks after the alleged assault.
"Tell your mother you were awake, tell your mother about the orgasm, tell you mother we talked", he said he had wanted to plead.
DEPOSITION REDUX: Prosecutors introduced more of his lurid testimony from a decade ago, when he said he gave quaaludes, a highly popular party drug in the 1970s that was banned in the USA, to women before sex.
Reape, who began working on the case when it was reopened in 2015, noted that Cosby had told police in 2005 that he still had the same Benadryl he said he had given Constand.
According to the deposition, Cosby admitted to giving Quaaludes to multiple women before sex.
Andrea Constand is accusing Cosby of drugging her and sexually abusing her as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
Cosby gave a small group of supporters outside the Montgomery County Courthouse a thumb's up as he got into an SUV to be whisked away for the weekend. I wanted to know what happened from X o'clock to X o'clock, I said I...
While he insisted the encounter was consensual, Cosby still apologized to Gianna Constand, an action which he tried to explain.
The AP does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done. Jurors heard Cosby saying he and Constand engaged in "petting" "at least" four times at his home - each time initiated by him - and that she only rebuffed him once. She has yet to be seen in court.
While this week's case hinges on whether a jury finds Cosby guilty of assaulting Constand (none of the other accusations have any bearing on this case), in many ways Constand's case has become Valentino's case, a case belonging to each of the now more than 50 women who have come forward to say Cosby has raped and assaulted them. Valentino met Cosby in 1969 when she and a friend were having dinner at a West Hollywood restaurant the comedian co-owned. Earlier in the week, Keshia Knight-Pulliam, who played the youngest daughter, Rudy, on "The Cosby Show, " attended in support of Cosby.
