Mats to Cover Rabin Square Wednesday as Israel Celebrates International Yoga Day

The United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga after Modi, a Yoga enthusiast, lobbied for the ancient Indian art.

Yoga was a great medium to bring cohesion in the society, Modi said, adding no one in the world was questioning the benefits of yoga.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be reaching Lucknow this afternoon on his two days' visit to state capital".

Every state will be organising the International Yoga Day.

Earlier, the Chief Minister met a 72-member student delegation of the City Montessori School in Lucknow, which will be representing India in NY at the third International Yoga Day festivities on June 21.

However, Wednesday being a working day, some may not be able to attend the mass yoga participation programmes. Whether you're a student, teacher or anyone living in Ras Al Khaimah, make sure to visit this yoga class. Get your own yoga mat, towel and water to keep yourself hydrated! These are being planned in association with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Yoga organisations.

Participants in the group yoga session included cricketer Suresh Raina, Joris Geeven from the Netherlands Foreign Ministry, Miss India Holland 2017 Preety Dhillon, Dutch nationals and members of the Suriname-Hindustani as well as Indian communities.

As the day progresses, the number of people participating in the celebrations, which also includes mega yoga sessions at DDA parks, is expected to reach 10,000 across the city.

India's Permanent Mission to the United Nations as well as the Indian Consulate have also planned several events to mark the day.

Schools can observe yoga day as per their convenience at anytime between 7am to 9.30am as it may not be possible for all schools to start the celebrations at 7am. "During his stay he will participate in International Yoga Day function on Wednesday at Ramabai Ambedkar Ground and perform Yoga postures with above 60,000 participants", an official said.

She also told Press Trust of India that "Our message is to take yoga to the world".
