How to watch the NHL Expansion draft and NHL Awards show

As you read this, the entire hockey world is trying to get inside Las Vegas GM George McPhee's head guess which deals he'll make and which players he'll pull Wednesday's from each roster during the NHL's first expansion draft in nearly two decades.

As we await the Vegas Golden Knights' final selections for their inaugural roster that will be announced at the NHL Awards show on Wednesday night, everyone has their own thoughts on what is now happening between closed doors.

The team will take one player from each NHL team in the league's first expansion draft in almost two decades. The Golden Knights will be unveiled at 8 p.m. ET.

This is unlikely to be the last deal of the day, but don't expect confirmation until the expansion draft itself due to the trade involved. I remember it as being a kind of weird moment: Smith showing up on stage wearing the jersey of a minor-league team in which only a small number of us felt any personal investment. For most other teams, those moves would amount to little more than minor tinkering.

The expansion draft affects every team in the league, so numerous stars convening in Vegas will be paying close attention to the names of the teammates they'll be losing to Sin City.

The deal also includes a third piece going to Vegas. The Golden Knights GM must stockpile draft picks and prospects to build up his farm system.

"We might have to give them a very good asset to make them not take a good player from us", Fletcher said.

So the Dallas Stars probably aren't bargaining with Vegas to not take any specific player on their exposed list. "Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we look forward to making our on-ice debut this season with the new Lighter, Cooler, and Stronger Adidas Hockey ADIZERO Authentic NHL jerseys". "We thought that when that happened, he'd be an outstanding goaltender".

It's not clear who the designated player is.

ROLLING THE DICE: Pending free agent Kevin Shattenkirk of the Capitals wants to be a No. 1 defenseman and could get that role in Vegas.

All trade roads run through Vegas.

Names like Marco Scandella, Matt Dumba, and Sami Vatanen come to the forefront on this thought. Even more unexpected was their decision to keep defensemen Alex Petrovic and Mark Pysyk over veteran Jason Demers, who signed a five-year contract less than a year ago and whose nine goals last season were more than Petrovic and Pysyk combined.

On the eve of a much-anticipated roster reveal, the National Hockey League and its new jersey manufacturer Adidas pulled back the curtain Tuesday on the new Golden Knights' home and away sweaters.

SURE BET: This is where elite talent already under contract is hard to find, outside of maybe Nashville's James Neal, a 10-time 20-goal scorer, and 32-year-old Minnesota center Eric Staal.

Marincin is young at 25-year-old and he's already a solid National Hockey League level blue liner.

“Weve tried to talk to every club before we make a selection and different things result from that, ” said McPhee, who had planned to speak with Maple Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello and several other general managers once more on Tuesday.
