Havard Nordtveit leaves West Ham for Hoffenheim

Håvard Nordtveit has signed for German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee, the deal was announced a short while ago on the club website.

Havard Nordtveit joined West Ham on a free transfer last summer from Borussia Monchengladbach but failed to impress at the London Stadium.

He was a first choice in midfield, or defence if required, throughout his time at Borussia-Park, eventually making 152 Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach, as well as playing in the UEFA Champions League during his final season.

Hoffenheim complete the signing of West Ham United midfielder Havard Nordtveit on a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2022.

"We've found someone who gives us plenty more options in our game", added Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann. "He brings with him the ideal attributes needed for a centre-back in a back three or a back four, and can even play to a high level as a defensive midfielder".

He is Hoffenheim's third signing of the summer, following Florian Grillitsch and Justin Hoogma. Havard is also a big personality off the pitch. "Havard is a real leader off the field, and without his willingness to take a salary cut, this transfer would never have been possible for us".

"Despite having already played at the highest level in the Bundesliga for a number of years, his development is by no means over".
