Dani Alves close to completing Manchester City move

Brazilian right-back Dani Alves has told Juventus he wants to leave amid interest from Manchester City.

Di Marzio also reports that Juventus are weighing up their options who could replace Alves, as the Serie A winners look at a number of suitable choices including rivals AC Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio and Portuguese worldwide João Cancelo of Valencia.

Manager Pep Guardiola was reported at the weekend to have lined up a £5 million bid for the legendary Brazilian right-back.

The Italy worldwide has struggled to earn a regular starting spot since arriving at Old Trafford in 2015, with former midfielder Antonio Valencia more often than not the preferred option for Mourinho at right-back. However he did fight his way back into the squad towards the end of the season, even starring in the 2-0 Europa League final victory over Ajax.

Darmian said he was unsure of his future at United after Italy's 3-0 friendly win over Uruguay earlier this month. As the player explained to reporters in April, he had always geared himself up for the constant battle for game time that would involve playing for Manchester United.

Last season Darmian made 29 appearances in all competitions.

"We have won a Europa League and this is what makes me go forward, this is my mentality and I will keep going this way".

According to the report, Alves didn't hide his admiration of Guardiola in a recent piece he wrote for the Players' Tribune, calling the former Blaugrana boss a genius.
