Bayern ace linked with move

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to make a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

Costa is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge despite a stellar 2016/17 season, having been told by manager Antonio Conte via text that he is no longer needed at the club.

Chelsea are now trying to capitalise and have now made a serious enquiry.

Lewandowski, who scored 43 goals for Bayern in all competitions last season, would be an alternative to top targets Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata.

Despite this apparent lack of help, the 28-year-old still ended the campaign with an impressive 30 Bundesliga strikes to his name - leaving him just one short of Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lukaku is still very much on Chelsea's radar, The Mirror reports, but Everton's £100m asking price appears to be a big stumbling block.

The Pole is contracted at the Allianz Arena until 2021, having signed a new contract in December.

Robert Lewandowski was "disappointed like I have never seen him before" over a perceived lack of support in his hunt for the Bundesliga golden boot award, according to his agent.

According to the red-top, Chelsea could be set to sign Bayern Munich's best player this summer: Polish global striker Robert Lewandowski. He really hoped that the team [would] support him proactively'.
