Ronaldo situation 'very strange' - Perez

The 32-year-old Real Madrid star has threatened to leave Spain after running into problems with tax authorities.

Spanish prosecutors have alleged that Ronaldo has avoided paying €14.8m (£12.9m) in taxes relating to image rights. In the current ranking, Real Madrid ranks fourth while Ronaldo is sixth.

The Portuguese global is alleged to have knowingly used a business structure created in 2010 to hide his image rights income from Spanish authorities. Portuguese sports daily A Bola then reported that Ronaldo was planning on leaving Madrid and it would be an "irreversible" decision.

Calderon, who was responsible for brokering the transfer which brought bring Ronaldo to Madrid from Manchester United in 2009, believes it would be impossible to replace the man who scored 16 goals in his final 10 games of last season as Los Blancos completed a league and European double.

The Real Madrid president also appeared to dash Manchester United hopes of signing Alvaro Morata, a transfer that looked close to completion last week.

Despite delivering on-field success with the Liga and Champions League double last season, he faces a hard task in the summer transfer market.

"As a rule we do not comment on these rumors but now in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo we want to make it clear once and for all that this rumor lacks any foundation and must be confined to the real of fables". "If he's angry it's because he feels unjustly treated", he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

Perez said Madrid were not looking to replace Navas or deputy Kiko Casilla. He's immersed in the Confederations Cup [with Portugal] at the moment, which is an important competition, and for the moment there's nothing until that ends. I've heard about the Cristiano situation from what newspapers have written.

However, Perez said that he had not spoken to Ronaldo, who is on duty for Portugal at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, which ends on July 2.

"People say things about me without knowing a thing and it bothers me".

"Wish and your dreams will come true", might work in a ideal world, but Ronaldo will know just because he wants to go back to Manchester United, his former club, it doesn't mean he will be able to.

"I have not talked to him or his father. Ronaldo is in a major tournament with his country and until that is over I can not talk to him", goal.com quoted Perez as saying.
