Rangers slug past Mariners

The game tips off at 5:00 PM EST in Globe Life Park. But only for a few moments.

OUR PREDICTION: The Rangers are a flawless 4-0 in Darvish's last four starts against the Mariners, are 6-1 in his last seven home outings versus Seattle, and are 7-0 in their last seven home games against the M's.

Texas is also activating Tyson Ross and will send him to the mound for his Rangers debut Friday night against Seattle. "Everything leading up to today was a reason for everything I did".

"We needed somebody to go out and give us innings and keep us in the ballgame and he did a really good job".

Cabrera connected for his seventh homer, a three-run drive in the fifth inning that made it 11-2.

His official line was 5 2/3 innings pitched, two hits, two runs, three walks and five strikeouts. Beltre, 38, is 41st in career home runs with 446. He struck out one and walked two.

"Once the guys started swinging, I was just happy to be out there with the lead and continue to get outs and progress through the game", Ross said. "It's always that one inning". Perez allowed a run in a 30-pitch third inning, and was so sweaty afterwards, he changed his trousers, jersey, and shoes before coming back out for the fourth inning.

Darvish allowed one run and one hit over seven innings in defeating the Astros on Monday. Austin Bibens-Dirkx (2-0, 3.28) makes his third career start and his second career appearance against the Blue Jays.

"Fortunately they didn't catch them today", Seager joked. Toronto will counter with Marco Estrada, who's 4-5 with a 4.54 ERA.

"I just need to stay on the attack and don't give a chance to the (other) team to score", Perez said.

It was Gallardo's first inning all over again.

Odor hit a leadoff homer in the sixth off Dan Altavilla. The shot scored Carlos Gomez.

Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers has reached double figures in home runs for the first time in two years.

"We'll wait and see", Servais said. "It was just up and over the middle". Seattle couldn't respond, and Texas won. But Nomar Mazara beat the shift with an opposite-field single, then Beltre looped a single to right field. But it summed up the day. Not the best of times for Darvish in this one, as he surrendered four runs in the first inning, with the big blow in the frame coming on a two-run home run by Danny Valencia.

MINUS: Gallardo's 6.30 ERA ranks as the third highest in the majors among qualifying pitchers.

Ross (1-0) made his Rangers debut and started for the first time since opening day past year when he pitched for the Padres. Gomez, who was back in the team after a month, went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in leading the Rangers to its sixth win in seven games. Dee Gordon went 3 for 5 and Justin Bour homered in his first game back from the disabled list. They replaced him on the roster by promoting one-time Angels closer Ernesto Frieri from Triple-A Round Rock. The Mariners play four games against Detroit, three against Houston and two against Philadelphia.

Kyle Seager drove in three runs with three doubles, Christian Bergman pitched effectively into the sixth inning and the Mariners beat Yu Darvish and the Rangers 7-3.
