Draymond Green couldn't resist mocking LeBron James and the Cavaliers during the Warriors' NBA championship parade Thursday. During Dub Nation's championship parade, the Golden State Warriors forward made a serious appearance by wearing a tee shirt that said "Quickie".
Green, ever the provocateur, alluded to James' statement that he'd never played on a superteam before declaring: "You started the superteam, bro!" Critics have called the Warriors a superteam after Kevin Durant joined a roster that won an NBA-record 73 games during the 2015-16 season. "In '96, when (Michael) Jordan was retired, the Rockets joined Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler - all on the same team. They broke National Basketball Association records for the last three years, and they added probably the second-best talent in the National Basketball Association", he added.
Golden State Warriors fans are using the word dynasty to describe this year's championship team.
They also had good things to say about Finals MVP Kevin Durant, and eventually had respect for Green for 'doing his job'. When Sam Amick of USA Today asked Thompson about them in November, Thompson said, "Yeah, I don't get it cuz I'm not dead".
If it was just a case of too many people riding on the back, I'm going to be extremely disappointed.
Green said that he was responsible for the idea of the shirt, and someone in the organization made the shirts. There had to be some trash talk as well.
"James promptly responded with a post on Instagram, complete with the caption ". James said he had talked to his teammates about cutting his hair for months. They just can't. So barring any injuries, the Warriors will end up right back in the finals next year and likely face the Cavs again for the fourth straight year.
Got "em outta here quick with the trophy - Quickie", said Green, who maintained that this was all in jest as he remains pals with LeBron James off the court.
