Jon Snow's real name has been revealed

This name is deliberately inaudible in the episode in order to build intrigue, but fans used the wonders of lip-reading and Ice and Fire lore to suggest that Lyanna had originally named Jon "Jaehaerys", a Targaryen name to match his father's ancestry. We now know who Jon Snow's parents are, but what we didn't realize is that there may be more to what his intended name was.

We have to admit, it seems a little unusual that producers would just give away such a significant detail, but you can check out a screenshot here. It's highly possible that Lyanna gave Jon a *very* Targaryen name, like Jaehaerys. Those Targaryen did like to keep it in the family.

In season 6, it was confirmed that Jon is not the bastard son of Ned Stark and that he carries the dragon blood as he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.

Citing an interview with Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), the article seems to reveal the true name of Jon Snow: Jaehaerys Targaryen. TheRealVanDamme shared a photo of (what is reportedly is) a leaked page from an upcoming issue of the Empire Magazine where Jon Snow's true name is revealed along with Isaac Hempstead Wright 's (Bran from the series) interview. Jaehaerys would be a good pick as the name isn't associated with any real negative connotations, like Aerys, Maegor, etc. Jaehaerys II, the second holder of the name (and Rhaegar's grandfather), is the king who first received the prophecy, with a witch telling him the prince would be born of his bloodline. That is why he took/seduced Lyanna in the first place. As we've been told, once upon a time Ned Stark went off and had a child with someone other than his wife, Catelyn, and he returned home with this baby. Since the excerpt was shared on Reddit, Empire contributor Dan Jolin clarified that Jon's name is in no way confirmed and this report was simply based on the lip-reading of dedicated fan Claire Williams, who is credited as first popularizing the Jaehaerys theory a year ago. If you wish to remain as pure as the driven Jon Snow, then do not proceed past this point. Jaehaerys restored stability to the realm, ended the Blackfyre threat during the war of the Ninepenny kings, and improved relations with the major houses who were unhappy during his father's rule (Aegon V - Egg, the brother of Maester Aemon).
