Furyk reached 10-under 200.
"I thought it was a fantastic round of golf, given what we were dealing with to start the day", the 23-year-old said.
Brian Harman waves to the gallery on the 18th green during the third round of the U.S. Open golf tournament at Erin Hills.
"It's going to be weird", Thomas said about the time he has to pass before teeing off on Sunday.
This isn't like most Opens.
But is he playing well enough to win a U.S. Open? It led to an eagle to close out his 63.
Koepka, Fleetwood, first-round leader Rickie Fowler and Si Woo Kim all shot 68s to stay in contention.
Scheffler birdied No. 18 for a 1-over 73 in the final round.
Over to you, Rory: "That's why jack designed 100's of golf courses. and it's knew. mustn't have taught grammar in the 50's".
An incredible 3-wood off the tee to the drivable par-4 15th gave Thomas the chance for his first, first eagle in a U.S. Open. And he wasn't through. Palmer shot a 65 after going into the final round trailing by seven shots. "The key was ending the front-nine with three birdies".
The young player from Kentucky had every shot he needed yesterday. Jordan Spieth came charging out in 2015 and won a pair of majors.
The fifth hole was played as a 111-yard par 3 instead of a par 5 because of the flooding from overnight rain. No one had a chance. Three three-putts on the back-nine is pretty disappointing.
Fleetwood has posted three successive subpar rounds at Erin Hills, opening with a five-under 67 and following with a 70 and 68 to be in prime position to battle for his first major title.
At Rancho Mirage in early April, Thompson was given the four-shot penalty with six holes to play in the final round. What dropped him under double digits were two bogeys that didn't really matter. But Brian Harman: U.S. Open champ? What's more, this course had seemed a flawless match for the considerable skills of No. 1 Dustin Johnson, No. 2 Rory McIlroy and No. 3 Jason Day. They are all seeking their first major championship and barring a miracle comeback by someone like Louis Oosthuizen or Sergio Garcia (who both fall under "The Field" at 25/1), we will have a first time major victor for the seventh consecutive major. A mere hiccup. On Saturday, he got to 14 under, then on Sunday, he widened the gap versus par to 16 under.
Thomas leads the U.S. Open after shooting a 63 in the third round, matching the major record for low score. On the 8th, I had a six foot birdie putt, jammed it going uphill, and had to make an six footer coming back for a bogy. The tournament was never really in doubt after that, though the wind arrived and Kaymer couldn't maintain the pace.
Fleetwood also looked free of nerves until the final hole, where two clumsy shots around the green resulted in his first dropped shot of the day. Tom Weiskopf shot 75 after his and Vijay Singh shot 72 to follow his 63.
