Scalise on the mend, now in 'serious' condition

Former President George W. Bush wrote on Instagram Friday, "Last night I had a nice chat with Jennifer Scalise, who reports that Steve is fighting hard and getting better".
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Scalise remained in critical condition on Thursday after the latest surgery. Scalise was hit as a gunman sprayed bullets into a GOP congressional baseball practice outside Washington D.C. The round fragmented, and caused significant damage to bones, internal organs and blood vessels.

Scalise sustained a single wound from a rifle, entering in the area of his left hip.The bullet traveled straight across toward the other hip, in what doctor's call a transpelvic gunshot wound.
Scalise should be able to walk again, Sava said.
President Trump said Friday that Scalise "took a bullet for all of us" when he was shot Wednesday morning at a congressional Republican baseball practice. Hodgkinson's wife emotionally told reporters Thursday, "I can't believe he did this", saying there were no signs. Medical staff said that he is sedated but does seem to know that his family is with him.
