List of Congress members found in pocket of suspected congressional shooter

The man who shot senior Republican congressman Steve Scalise and others at a congressional baseball practice session this week had a list containing the names of three politicians, officials said. Brooks said the list was short and the other names he was told of were also GOP congressmen.

For now, Scalise remains in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit. He said that the greatest initial threat to Scalise's life was due to blood loss.

He said that "there are hundreds of fragments" of the bullet still in Scalise's body, but that there is more risk associated with finding them than there is benefit of taking them out of him.

James Hodgkinson, 66, from Belleville, Illinois, was shot dead by police after opening fire in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday. He's had a second surgery and will be in the hospital a while. "I feel a lot more confident and a lot more optimistic than I did two or three days ago".

As for rehabilitation, Sava said he believed Scalise will be "able to walk and hopefully run" in the future. "I think that his risk of death right now is substantially lower than when he came in. he was as critical as you can be when he came in".

A clearer picture of Hodgkinson has emerged since the shooting, a staunch GOP opponent and Bernie Sanders supporter who was very active on social media to display those sentiments.

House whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was wounded by Hodgkinson.

Brooks told CNN that he was contacted by Capitol Police and told his name and office number were on the list.

House Speaker Paul Ryan paid a visit to his injured colleague at the hospital Friday.

Hodgkinson also contacted the office of Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) at least 10 times over the past year, a Bost spokesman said, calling the emails and phone calls negative but not threatening.

Scalise's wife, Jennifer, released a letter thanking people for their prayers. The US Capitol Police and representatives for the three lawmakers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

One of the injured officers, Krystal Griner, is still being treated at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center after being shot in the ankle.
