Pakistan violates ceasefire in Rajouri and Poonch along LoC; India retaliates

The Intelligence Bureau says that this is being done to provide cover fire to the terrorists who are trying to infiltrate into the Valley.

"Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliation by Indian troops in Bhimber Gali sector on Wednesday", IANS quoted an official as saying.

"An army man was critically injured in Pakistani troops firing".

Pakistan today violated the ceasefire by firing on forward posts along the LoC in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing an Indian Army jawan. "He was evacuated to military hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead", Mehta said.

"Naik Bakhtawar Singh was a fearless and honest soldier".

Singh, 34, belonged to Hajipur village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district, Lt. Col. Mehta informed and added that he is survived by his wife and three children aged 11 years, 9 years and a 10-month-old baby. The firing and mortar shelling by the Pakistani troops continued till 7.45 pm. There have been six ceasefire violations in the past three days and a total 17 along the LoC and the worldwide border in Jammu region since June 1 in which one civilian was killed and seven others were injured.

According to defence sources, Pakistani troops use heavy gunfire, RPGs, Recoilless Rifles and mortars to target army positions and civilian areas during the ceasefire violations, which have picked up since last week.
