Lakers split on Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson at No. 2

LaVar's tendency to get in front of cameras and say unpredictable (and sometimes problematic things) will be taken into consideration by every team thinking about drafting Lonzo, and it's easy to imagine that a $3 billion franchise might be uncomfortable bringing a media firebrand they can't control into the fold. "Lonzo is a great guard". The UCLA point guard might have turned out to be the right person, Ball's workouts with the team went well, and most of the fans believed that he could be their next star. "Just tie my shoes faster and everything".
The draft is June 22, and so far, the only top prospect who's worked out for Boston is Fultz. While all indications remain strong that the Celtics will go with Markelle Fultz with the top overall pick, it's understandable if they give some consideration to selecting Jackson with the top overall pick. In May, none other than Lakers president Magic Johnson said Lonzo Ball will "probably" enter the National Basketball Association with "a target on his back", shortly after Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving noted that LaVar's boasting put a "spotlight" on Ball that "just draws an even bigger target" on the teenager. "Never know where I might land, so just wanted to see how it is out here". LaVar's constant media coverage has helped to make Lonzo a household name, but will also leave him open for constant scrutiny from the moment he's drafted.
Per ESPN's report, the workout will not take place at the Lakers' facility in El Segundo, California, but rather at an undisclosed location, with the workout coming to get a greater understanding of Ball's work ethic. That means that if KU's Josh Jackson, Duke's Jayson Tatum or either of Kentucky's vastly different but equally intriguing guards De'Aaron Fox or Malik Monk were to go No. 1 it would pay 19/1.
The Lakers have also fielded trade inquiries in recent weeks that include their No. 2 pick. "They've had scenarios presented to them, and offered their own". The Lakers like Ingram's steady growth with his defense, shooting and aggressiveness as he strives to add more muscle to his wiry frame.
"It doesn't matter to me".
Dennis Smith averaged 18.1 points and led the ACC with 6.2 assists. The Celtics already hosted Fultz, but the slick scorer said he isn't afraid of a little extra scrutiny.
While most mock drafts still have Lonzo Ball going number two, there are still some concerns that could cause the Lakers to pass on him.
UCLA standout Lonzo Ball showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! just after the Golden State Warriors wrapped up defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals to talk about his own National Basketball Association future. Well, despite working out Fultz and Fox as well, the Lakers seem to be narrowing it down to two men; Ball and Jackson. But like I wrote above, at this point, all indications are that Boston will select Fultz first overall. Everybody else might think about it differently or something.
Markelle has only worked out for the Boston Celtics, who hold the top pick this year.
Q: On what he showed in his workout: Fultz: I just think the way I can shoot the ball, my work ethic, how hard I play.
Fultz's workout with the Lakers lasted about an hour.
After lunch, Fultz planned to visit the Lakers' new training complex under construction just down the street from the current building. "He's obviously more of a combo guard that can play both guard spots, similar to the way that Dwyane Wade was when he came out of Marquette". He argued he could coexist with Thomas and Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell. I'm in my home where I love to play at (on the court). "(Russell) can play off the 2", Fultz said.
For Ball playing for the Lakers is all about the mystique, the young team they have but mostly it's about "being home".
